history
The Irish monastery Glencairn founded in 1949 in Massachusetts on the border with Rhode Island , not far from the Trappist monastery Our Lady of the Valley ("Mariental", later: Trappist Abbey Spencer ), Mount St. Mary's Abbey ("Marienberg"), the first Cistercian convent in the United States , which was elevated to an abbey in 1950 and founded three daughter monasteries by 1987.
