Trash Groove Girls was a new wave band from Düsseldorf that was brought together in 1986 by producer and songwriter Chris Garland. The original line-up consisted of Simone Stepputat, Andrea Willert and Katinka Päkel, who were joined by the drummer Michael Richter as a studio musician. Katinka Päkel was replaced by Barbara Matzner on the second album. The group was able to achieve some respectable successes for a short time, among other things as the opening act for Einstürzende Neubauten, and received notable attention from the music press. The commercial breakthrough did not materialize, however, and so the group broke up after almost two years of activity, two singles and two studio albums.
