Tragic Cause is a thrash metal band from Hamburg that has existed since 2009 .

history

Tragic Cause was started in November 2009 by guitarist and singer Alex Hoffmann and drummer Hanjo Schwarz during a Toxic Holocaust concert in Hamburg. After a few months, the band released a promo CD, Planet Thrash, in December 2010 . At the beginning of January 2010 the line up was completed by bassist Sandro Kuttimalai. The first live performance took place on January 30, 2010 in Hamburg. The band was signed to the independent label Human to Dust Records in 2011 .

In 2011 the debut album To Reign Supreme was released , which the band recorded together with producer Marc Wüstenhagen in the Daily Hero Studio in Berlin. After the release, support tours for bands such as Sepultura , Disbelief and Tom Angelripper followed . The band received good and bad reviews for the album in the press, with Brother Cle from Rock Hard giving 8.0 points. Björn Backes from the online magazine Powermetal.de, on the other hand, described the album as "at best average and far too routine and lackluster for a newcomer work".

After the bankruptcy of the German Twilight distributor, the band switched to TWS / SOD in early 2012. Her album Dead Man Walking was released there in September 2012 . Founding member Alex Hoffmann left the band in early 2013 for professional reasons. After various lineup changes and a few gigs in 2013, the band was quiet.

A new studio album has been announced for 2017.

style

Tragic Cause orient their music style on Thrash Metal bands like Machine Head , Pantera and Sepultura . Like their role models, they took influences from hardcore punk and death metal . The sound is reminiscent of the crossover of the early 1990s.
