Traugott Leberecht Schwabe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Traugott Leberecht Schwabe , or Traugott Lebrecht Schwabe (* 1737 in Niederroßla near Apolda ; † August 7, 1812 in Weimar ) was court advocate, from 1785 councilor and at least 1775/76 mayor of Weimar.

He was the father of Weimar Mayor Carl Leberecht Schwabe , with whom the riddle of the skull of Friedrich Schiller and Friedrich Wilhelm Schwabe began . He was also involved in the appointment of Johann Gottfried Herder as pastor in 1776 .

Traugott Leberecht Schwabe also sold the garden house in the Park an der Ilm to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , from which this house got its name. Duke Carl August did not have to wait long for his approval for this purchase, as he hoped to bind his friend more firmly to Weimar.
