history

For centuries, the Trebel formed the border between Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania. A first, medieval crossing over the Trebel near Nehringen was destroyed in 1505. In 1780 the Swedish government of Western Pomerania submitted applications for a new Trebel crossing, which was rejected by the Mecklenburg side. In 1868 the Gnoiens magistrate informed the responsible office in Dargun about plans to build a road from Dargun over the Trebel to Pomerania; In April 1896 these plans for an iron swing bridge were put aside after unsuccessful negotiations with the now Prussian government of Western Pomerania. After 1900 the plans received a new impetus. A wooden bascule bridge was planned, as the Gnoien magistrate informed the Mecklenburg government in 1909. The bridge projected by the Royal Building Councilor Westphal from Stralsund was estimated at construction costs of 36,000 marks, these costs being borne jointly by the Pomeranian and Mecklenburg sides. In 1910, on the occasion of the imminent opening of the bridge, Dargun Governor Drechsler awarded the Order of the Crown, Third Class, and the Mayor of Gnoien, Schmidt, the Order of the Red Eagle, fourth class for their commitment. The transfer of the bridge to traffic was initially planned for spring 1911, but was postponed due to an animal disease; the bridge was released on June 19, 1911 by the district president of Stralsund.

The bridge was renewed in 1947. Between 1983 and 1991 it was completely reconstructed, with the old bridge being demolished and a new bridge built based on the historical model. Extensive repair work was carried out in autumn 2004. In 2011 the bridge was demolished due to its dilapidation and renewed according to the plans of the predecessor. Since summer 2012 it is again for vehicles up to 2.5 t. passable.
