Trespassers William was an American shoegaze and indie rock band.

Band history

Trespassers William was founded in 1997 in California. The band got its name from a story from the children's book series Pooh the Bear . Her 1999 debut album Anchor went largely unnoticed and the album Different Stars , which was initially self-distributed in 2002 , only reached a wider audience in 2004 when it was released by the label Bella Union (in Europe) and Nettwerk Records (worldwide). In the same year Trespassers William moved to Seattle to record the next album Having with producer Dave Fridmann . This was released in 2006. Most recently, the band worked on an EP entitled The Natural Order of Things , which was released in 2009. At the end of 2009 the band was on a European tour. In early 2012, the band announced their breakup, but referred to material yet to be released as well as the members' solo projects.

style

While the first album can still be classified as folk-heavy, Trespassers William subsequently developed an ethereal sound that combines shoegaze, folk rock and ambient. So they are in the tradition of dream pop bands like Mazzy Star .
