THS living

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The THS Wohnen was a traditional, mining related housing company based in Gelsenkirchen at the former Nordstern colliery . It goes back to the trustee for miners ' homes in the Rhenish-Westphalian coal district GmbH , which was founded in 1920 as trustee Vangowert for the granting of loans for the construction of miners' housing ("settlement bank"). Numerous regional company housing companies and investment companies of THS were brought together under the umbrella of THS GmbH, and around 70,000 apartments were recently managed. On January 1, 2012, THS and Evonik Immobilien were operationally merged to form Vivawest GmbH .

history

THS was founded in Essen in 1920 as a settlement bank, as a trust agency for miners' homes in the Rhenish-Westphalian coal district GmbH . Employers ( association for mining interests ) and employees (mining unions) brought equal amounts of capital into the company and were represented equally on the board of directors. The THS received additional funds from a coal price surcharge that was levied in 1920–1923, which has since been tied as a silent state contribution to the THS's “miners' estate”. Shortly after the company was founded, however, the tasks of the THS went beyond mere lending . Due to the risk of capital misdirection against the background of the large radius of action of the THS, it became operationally active in the construction sector and in housing management. Their central task was to provide inexpensive and high-quality living space for the colliery workers in the Ruhr area in the vicinity of the respective workplaces.

Through the acquisition of several company housing companies (e.g. Glückauf Gemeinnützige Wohnungsbaugesellschaft ) as well as through the acquisition and establishment of technical, commercial and social service companies from the 1970s, the 90-year-old traditional company had developed into a housing service company with around 75,000 apartments in the meantime Developed in 63 cities and towns with over 800 employees. The entrepreneurial focus was the rental of living space to private households.

Reorganization of ownership

In the course of the restructuring of the Ruhr mining industry , a settlement was made in June 2007 between the THS and the federal government to replace the miners' estate. The federal government received € 450 million from the THS until the end of 2010 and, in return, waived all rights to which it was entitled to the THS housing company from the trust relationship associated with the miners' estate. THS then changed its name from “Treuhandstelle für Bergmannswohnstätten im Rhenisch-Westfälischen Steinkohlen District GmbH” to “THS GmbH”; she was no longer a trustee . The THS shares were initially held at 50% each by the asset management and trust company of the industrial union Bergbau und Energie mbH and Evonik Immobilien GmbH, to which the association's claims for mining interests in the course of the spin-off of the white (industrial) were finally transferred from the black (mining) side in the then RAG Group.
