Trials Rising

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Trials Rising is a 2½D platform racing game developed by RedLynx and Ubisoft Kiev and published by Ubisoft on February 26, 2019. In the game, the player controls a motorcyclist when crossing obstacles. It is the first implementation of the Trials series for a Nintendo console.

Gameplay

The player must steer a motorcyclist from the beginning to the end of a course. There are obstacles in his way that he has to overcome by leaning forward or backward. If the rider falls off the motorcycle, they can restart directly from a checkpoint. The aim of the game is to beat a certain best time on the track and to reach the finish line with as few accidents as possible. The game also offers a multiplayer mode. Players can compete against each other on the same system or over the Internet. In the release version, the game offers over 120 tracks. Per downloadable content are to be added more than 50 other routes.

development

The game was announced in the Ubisoft press conference at E3 2018 . As with its predecessors, the Finnish development studio RedLynx is responsible for the development. It is supported by Ubisoft Kiev . There were two beta phases before the release on February 26, 2019. A closed beta in September 2018 and an open beta phase shortly before the release.

The game is available in a gold version. In addition to the actual game, this contains an expansion pass with additional routes and content as well as a 16-page sticker booklet.

reception

At Metacritic , the game currently has an average rating of 81 points (out of a maximum of 100). In the reviews of the game, it was particularly praised that Trials Rising remains true to the series concept and is easy to learn but difficult to master over the course of the game. The large scope, the level editor and a lot of variety were also praised. The fact that the title prominently advertises so-called loot boxes , which are sold for real money, was rated critically . In addition, there should be minor technical problems such as long loading times or occasional stutters in the gameplay.

predecessor

The predecessors of the game are Trials Evolution (2012) and Trials Fusion (2014).
