Tribal House

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tribal House is a variant of house music that emerged in the late 1980s and differs from other forms of playing through the use of traditional percussion instruments such as congas . The name Tribal itself says nothing about a real ethno sound or the like, but was only used for this style of music in reference to the roots of the hand drum music from Africa and the indigenous peoples of America .

The classic sound of tribal house is almost always instrumental. Electronic musical elements or other accompanying instruments are used sparingly.

Subgenres

Two main subgenres emerged in the course of the 1990s , but they are not always clearly distinguishable from one another.

Balearic Tribal House

The Balearic Tribal House is a sub-genre of the Tribal House and has its roots on the party island of Ibiza , where percussionists played live to the tracks in the clubs (e.g. the percussionist "Del Gado"). The rhythm style is very similar to the so-called Funky House Tracks, only that they also contain congas & percussion (and recently saxophone and violins) as instruments. In this style, the hand drums set the rhythm (in combination with the bass lines) and have a driving beat. The speed is usually between 127 and 130 bpm.

Tribal House experienced a further development around the turn of the millennium. New labels such as Siesta Music, Tango Records, Nightshift, Bluem and Doubledown Records came from the USA. New producers like Joeski, Halo Varga, Hipp-E, Tony from New York as well as the East and West Coast and gave the music direction a new impetus.

Deep Dark Tribal

Deep Dark Tribal or just Dark Tribal is sometimes also called Underground House or Under the Influence Sound . The sound itself has massive deep bass lines and a gloomy mood.
