Roberto "Robbie" Rivera (* 1973 in San Juan , Puerto Rico ) is a Puerto Rican House - DJ and producer .

life and career

He first came into contact with electronic dance music at the age of around ten. His passion for different groups, such as Depeche Mode , New Order or U2 , brought him into contact with contemporary electronic dance music.

At the age of 13 he bought his first mixer and two turntables and within a few years acquired the skills necessary to later be successful as a DJ. During his youth he tested a lot with the Roland drum machine that he borrowed from a friend.

In 1992 he moved to Miami and released his first record El Sorrullo in 1996 , which was more of the Latin House division. With that he made the breakthrough in the scene. One of his following hits, Bang , made it to number 13 on the UK charts and top 10 in Australia .

Due to the success he founded his own label Juicy Music in 1998 , on which he could freely publish his own ideas about electronic dance music.

Due to his popularity he was also in great demand as a remix artist and was able to work for the likes of Faithless , Felix Da Housecat , Madonna , Kylie Minogue , Gabriel & Dresden , Moloko , Bob Sinclar , Benny Benassi , Sinead O'Connor, Ferry Corsten , Ricky Martin , Carlos Santana , Steve Angello , Coburn , Superchumbo, David Guetta , Tocadisco , Pink and Basement Jaxx work.

Since 2005 he has been married to Monica Olabarrieta, who is also his business partner. Rivera was nominated for Best House Producer at Beatport and Best Remixer at the International Dance Music Awards in 2008.
