Triberga-Alby-mosse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Triberga-Alby-mosse is a bog on the Swedish island of Öland in the Baltic Sea .

location

The moor is located in the south-eastern part of the island between the villages of Alby in the north and Triberga in the south. As with several other wetlands in Öland, the moor was formed on the west side of the Ancylus Wall . The old beach wall prevents the unimpeded outflow of the water flowing eastwards due to the west / east slope of the island. Today the eastern coastal road of Öland runs directly on the wall, along which the moor stretches along the west side.

ecology

The moor is divided into the northern Alby mosse and the southern Triberga mosse . Until the 1950s, there were larger open water areas which, however, overgrown with reeds and threatened to silt up completely. The biodiversity in particular of the bird world decreased significantly. Since 1999, there is a restoration project to restore open water to create the silting to prevent and increase the biodiversity again.

Grebes , coots and teal are native and can be seen between the reeds and the stiff sedge . There are large stocks of candelabrum algae . The peripheral areas of the moor are grazed. Here come Mehlprimel , Marsh Helleborine , Common Devil's and Parnassus before.
