Triddana is a power metal - / folk metal - band from the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . The band was formed in 2011 after several members left the band Skiltron. The musical style is a mixture of Scottish and Irish folk music in combination with power metal influences.

The band name comes from the Irish word "troideanna", which means something like "the fights / the fight". The current line-up of the band consists of Juan José Fornés ( vocals , guitar ), Pablo Allen ( bagpipes , flutes ), Diego Rodríguez ( electric bass ) and Maximiliano Valdez ( drums ). The debut album Ripe for Rebellion , with Diego Valdez as the singer, was released in 2012. The recordings for their second studio album began in 2014, on December 11, 2015 the second album The Power & The Will was released by the German label Power Prog.

Band history

Founding years (2011 to 2013)

In early 2011 four of the six members of Skiltron announced their exit from the band, this separation was triggered by a disagreement between the founding members and the non-founding members. The ex-Skilltron members decided to go new musical ways and founded Triddana a short time later. The founding members were Diego Valdez ( vocals ), Juan José Fornés ( guitar ), Pablo Allen ( bagpipes , flute ) and Fernando Marty ( electric bass ). With this line-up, the band recorded their first EP, The Beginning , which was released in 2011. The following demo with the new songs Spoke the Firefly , The Dead End Verse and Men of Clay followed a little later.

On September 27, 2011 it was announced that the band was now complete, "Ranz" took over the role on drums. The following day, Triddana announced the first live concert for March 10, 2012 at Asbury Rock Club, Buenos Aires.

A new project was presented on February 23, 2012 via the band's video channel: the cover of Loreena McKennitt's song All Souls Night . On March 4, 2012, Triddana was interviewed by César Fuentes Rodriguez for the radio station Rock & Pop - 95.9 FM Buenos Aires .

The debut album Ripe for Rebellion was released in December 2012 and received widespread attention from the metal scene.

In 2013 the band released their first video for the EP The Beginning .

“... let's jump to a fast and catchy song with the bagpipes in the foreground, a song that you should all already know,“ Men of Clay ”. If I'm really honest with all of you this song is one of my personal folk metal favorites, no doubt about it!

The Power & The Will (2014 to 2016)

Fernando Marty left the band in early 2014 and was replaced by Diego Rodríguez ( electric bass ). In 2014 Triddana started recording her second studio album The Power & The Will , which was distributed worldwide by the German label Power Prog at the end of 2015.

“I particularly like the songs, which are very catchy due to the well-rounded songwriting and the harmonious vocals and are therefore almost suitable for the masses. One of these pieces is “Echo Through The Days” but also “Becoming” ... the diversity and colorful, medieval-happy variety that the songs by TRIDDANA offer are definitely worth listening to in detail, and because of that the gentler pace of some songs can be expected of a non-metal fan ... In the spring of 2015, Diego Valdez announced his departure from Triddana in order to concentrate more on his other projects. From then on, Juan José Fornés took over the role of guitarist and singer and began to write new songs. In addition, When The Enemy's Close, the first new song, including video, of the upcoming album was presented.

In March 2016 Triddana separated from her drummer "Ranz", from then on Maximiliano Valdez took over his place. Triddana's first European tour began in the summer of 2016 with performances in Spain and Germany . In Germany, appearances at various festivals such as the Free & Easy Festival or Chaostraum Open Air followed.

The production of the acoustic album is in the final stages, the rearranged versions of the songs from the album The Power & The Will will be released at the end of 2016. Spoke the Firefly is a song from the upcoming Triddana acoustic album and is already available on various streaming platforms.

style

Triddana's style is characterized by the genre-typical instrumentation of vocals , guitar , bass and drums, which is rounded off by the Scottish component, the bagpipes and flutes . Singer Juan José Fornés and bagpiper Pablo Allen write all of the band's lyrics. The aggressive, direct but very lyrical themes of Scottish history serve as inspiration. Influences such as the critical attitude towards Catholicism or the critical attitude towards war are supplemented by new components of modern society.

“... here there is melodic Metal with successful use of the bagpipes and a very high catchiness factor, cleanly produced, cleanly recorded and strongly sung. Rating: 8.50 "
