Trinitatiskirche (Münster)

The Trinitatiskirche is a Protestant church in the spirit district of the city of Münster . It belongs to the Evangelical Church of Westphalia .

history

In 1924 the foundation stone for the construction of the Trinity Church was laid in the south of the city after the number of Evangelical Christians had risen steadily there. The church was originally planned as a makeshift church and was to be converted into a community center with the new building of a larger church, which was not implemented later. The Trinitatiskirche was also originally to be named "Holy Spirit Church", especially since the parish area is located in the area of the district "Auf der Geist". But since the Catholic parish had reserved this name for its church , the Trinity Church initially remained nameless and was referred to as "the little one on the spirit". It was only given its current name on Trinity Sunday in 1949.

The Trinity Church was originally built with a barrel vault , which was later replaced by a pointed roof, especially for structural reasons.

The old Catholic parish of Münster has also been celebrating its services in the Trinity Church since 2011 .

organ

The organ on the gallery of the Trinity Church was built in 1958 by the organ builder Gustav Steinmann (Vlotho). The slider chests -instrument has ten registers on two manuals and pedal . The playing and stop actions are mechanical.
