Trixacarus is a genus of mites whose representatives live parasitically on the skin. They are very similar to grave mites , but the anus is dorsal and the genital papilla of the females is long and narrow. Adhesive stems ( pretarsi ) are only formed on the two front pairs of legs.
Representatives of the genus are:
- Trixacarus diversus Sellnick 1944: parasite in hamsters and rats , also known as sarcoptic anacanthos referred
- Trixacarus caviae Fain, Hovell & Hyatt 1972: Parasite in guinea pigs ( guinea pig mange )
