Trixacarus caviae is a parasitic in the skin of guinea pigs living mite . It feeds onits host's lymph and tissue fluid and causes guinea pig mange . The mite can temporarily colonize human skin andtriggera pseudo scabies .
features
Females are 190 × 145 µm, males 135 × 100 µm. As with all representatives of the genus Trixacarus , sticky stalks are only developed on the first two pairs of legs. The anus is dorsal and the female genital papilla is long and narrow.
