The trochamminida are a small order of shell-bearing, marine unicellular organisms from the group of foraminifera .
features
All kinds of order form agglutinated housings, i.e. housings made of collected particles that are either anchored in a protein- or mineral-based matrix. The non-furrowed housings are multi-chambered and always consistently trochospiral; later chambers are only very rarely uncoiled.
Systematics
The order has been fossilized since the Upper Carboniferous . It currently includes only two superfamilies (family selection):
- Superfamily Trochamminacea
- Superfamily Remaneicacea
