Dry concrete

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dry concrete is a mixture of building materials (mainly aggregates and cement ) that is traded and transported as bulk material , which can be processed into concrete with water . Since dry concrete can be stored for several months if stored appropriately, its delivery is not tied to a deadline, as is the case with ready-mixed concrete . It arrives at the construction site in sacks (such as big bags ) or special silos .

Similar to ready-mixed concrete, dry concrete is used when it is not possible or too cumbersome to manufacture on site ( construction site concrete ). Dry concrete is particularly suitable for small quantities (such as pre-mixed dry mortar ) or for difficult transport routes. In prestressed concrete components, dry concrete may be used to close recesses and for repairs.

In the building materials trade, there is dry concrete for numerous requirements, for example strength classes , which are named after the abbreviations of the concrete standard EN 206-1.

The dry concrete guideline of the German Committee for Reinforced Concrete defines the responsibilities of the manufacturer and user.
