Troels Rønning Vinther (born February 24, 1987 in Them ) is a former Danish cyclist .

Athletic career

Troels Vinther won in 2005 in the junior class, in which he started for the Vejle CK club , a stage at the Tour du Pays de Vaud, a stage at the GP Rüebliland and he was first in the overall and mountain classification at Liège- La Gleize . At the Danish championship he won the junior road race. In 2006 he drove for the Danish team Glud & Marstrand Horsens , where he finished third in the national senior championship. In 2007 and 2008 Vinther drove for the Swedish ProTour team Unibet.com (2008 Cycle Collstrop ) before returning to Denmark to Team Capinordic and then to Glud & Marstrand-LRØ . In the jersey of the latter team he had a strong 2011 season and won the one-day race Grand Prix Herning and a stage of the Circuit des Ardennes in France .

In 2012, Vinther was signed by Danish ProTeam Saxo Bank . He made his debut for this team at the end of January 2012 at the Tour de San Luis in Argentina . He finished the tour as 94. At the beginning of February he made his first appearance in Europe at the Trofeo Deía as part of the Mallorca Challenge . In 2014 he won a stage each of the Circuit des Ardennes and the Tour du Loir-et-Cher .

In March 2019, Troels Vinther fell badly at the Grand Prix de Denain . He was out for the remainder of the season and eventually ended his cycling career as he continued to suffer from the effects of his head injuries. The year 2019 was a "nightmare" for him.
