Trygve Haugeland

Trygve Haugeland (born March 18, 1914 in Lyngdal , † December 10, 1998 ) was a Norwegian politician of the Senterpartiet (Sp). From October 1972 to March 1973 he was the environment minister of his country.

Life

Haugeland worked from 1938 to 1943 as a teacher at the agricultural school in Tomb, after graduating from the Norwegian agricultural school in 1937. From 1945 to 1955 he was a member of the local parliament of Lyngdal, from 1947 he was the deputy mayor. From 1943 to 1946, from 1953 to 1963 and again from 1966 to 1967 he worked as a farmer in his home town of Lyngdal. Between 1946 and 1953 he was head of the agricultural school in Lyngdal and between 1963 and 1966 rector of the Wondo Gennet Agricultural School in Ethiopia . Between 1967 and 1977 he was head of the agricultural department of the then Vest-Agder province .

From 1958 to 1961 Haugeland was a member of the Norwegian Parliament, the Storting . He represented Vest-Agder there. On October 18, 1972, he was appointed Environment Minister in the Korvald government. He held the office until March 5, 1973. From 1974 to 1984 he was a member of the Nobel Committee .
