The Tsav ( Armenian Ծավ ; Russian Цав ) is a left tributary of the Aras in the southern Armenian province of Syunik and in the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh in the art ( Azerbaijan ).

The Tsav arises at the confluence of its two source rivers Schischkert (left) and Mezre (right) west of the village of Tsav . The Schischkert rises on the southern slope of the 3201  m high Chustup , while the Mezre has its origin on the northern slope of the Meghri Mountains . The Tsav flows in an easterly direction, passes the towns of Tsav and Nerkin Hand , then crosses the Azerbaijani border and shortly thereafter takes up the Shikahogh on the left. The M17 trunk road , which connects Kapan with Meghri , runs on a section in the river valley of the Tsav. In the lower reaches, the Tsav gradually turns to the southeast and finally flows into the Macaws. The Tsav has a length of 42 km (including the source river Schischkert 69 km). The 356 km² catchment area of the Tsav covers a large part of the Shikahogh reserve . The river floods in April and May . The discharge varies between 1.15 m³ / s and 36.2 m³ / s.
