history

The origins of this old Tyrolean family can be found in the Ulten Valley on Tschueggsee (today the Zoggler reservoir ). Tschugguel means oak on Tschueggsee and points to an old legend about a 1000-year-old oak. Members of this family settled in Kaltern and Tramin as early as the 13th century . In 1530 Leonhard Tschuegguel, Mayor of Tramin, was awarded a coat of arms by Archduke Ferdinand .

On May 23, 1705 Leonhard Tschugguel, Knight Edler von Tschuegg von Pichelheimb, Graunburg and Mayenfeldt was granted the baron status. He was married to Anna, a born baroness of Priami.

At the end of the 19th century, Hofrat Albert Freiherr von Tschugguel became deputy kuk postal director in Vienna .
