The TuS 1846 Diez was a German sports club based in the Rhineland-Palatinate town Diez within the same municipality in the Rhein-Lahn-Kreis .

Predecessor clubs

The first club was originally founded in 1846 as a gymnastics club. The first soccer game took place in 1911. However , when the First World War broke out, all gaming operations were initially interrupted. In 1921, SV Diez merged with TuF Diez to form the gymnastics and sports club 1875 Diez. Due to the separation of football and gymnastics required by the West German Game Association, VfB Diez was founded on November 8, 1923 as a pure football club . In the 1934/35 season, VfB then belonged to the 1st district class Unterlahn . Under pressure from the National Socialists , it was renamed VfB Reichsbahn Diez in 1938 . Due to the Second World War , games came to a standstill. After the end of the war, the gymnastics and sports club Diez was re-founded on December 6, 1945. In the summer of 1946, this re-establishment was also completed at VfB Diez. However, these two associations were merged on November 24, 1947.

history

Post-war to 1960s

The first soccer team then won the championship in the 1st district class Unterlahn-Ost in the 1947/48 season, and the district championship could then be retracted after a 3-2 victory over VfL Holzappel. In the playoff for promotion to the district class, it was also possible to prevail 3-2 against TuS Dahlheim . For the 1950/51 season , the promotion to the Rhineland regional league, which was still second at the time, was achieved with 22:38 points in the North Season, but as the last in the table, you had to go straight down again. In the 1951/52 season, table tennis player Liesel Brenner also managed the Rhineland Championship in women's singles.

For the 1956/57 season, the return to the now third-class amateur league Rhineland succeeded. At the end of the season, the team got 16:28 points within the east season, which should only be enough for the penultimate place, so the team had to relegate again directly. In the following season one was then champion of the 2nd amateur league Westerwald and thus managed the direct promotion. Back in the East relay then succeeded at the end of the 1958/59 season with 20:28 points for the first time the relegation. In the following season, with 29:33 points, they even managed to place sixth again. However, the 1960/61 season ended with 19:29 points over twelfth place again with relegation.

1990s until dissolution

In 1992 the club still played in the district league A Rhein / Lahn, but already in the 1996/97 season the club only played in the district league C. For the 2002/03 season, it was promoted to the district league B, at the end of the Playing time, however, the team had to relegate directly to twelfth place.

During the 1990s, however, there were repeated tensions over the football department's financial claims. Thereupon the chairman resigned his office on May 8, 1993 and founded the gymnastics and sports club 1847/1993 Diez on June 11. Due to legal concerns on the part of the registry court, however, the year 1847 was deleted from the name again. At a general meeting on July 21st, the name was changed to Gymnastics and Sports Club Orange . However, the year 1847 remained in the statutes, whereby the association refers to this founding date, based on the almost completely overflowed gymnastics department . The almost complete athletics department, as well as the entire table tennis, volleyball and badminton departments, were also transferred to the new club.

In 2006 TuS merged with VfL Diez-Freiendiez into the new SV Diez-Freiendiez .

Successor club

The first soccer team of SV Diez-Freiendiez then took part in the 2007/08 season within FSG Altendiez within the district league A. With 51 points, the FSG took fifth place there. The last season within the FSG was the 2010/11 season for the club. For the next season, the first team started at the bottom of the district league D, but also made the championship there with 39 points. In the district league B, the championship could then be repeated again after the next season. The team then started in the 2013/14 season in the district league B. Here, after the 2015/16 season, with 61 points, came third, which should, however, be enough for promotion to the district league A. The club still plays in this league to this day.
