The gymnastics and sports club 1875 Tiefenstein e. V. is a German sports club based in the Tiefenstein district of the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Idar-Oberstein in the Birkenfeld district .

history

Established until the post-war period

The club was founded in 1937 as VfL Tiefenstein from the previous clubs Turnverein 1875 Obertiefenbach-Hettstein , Turnverein Jahn Hettstein 1906 and the football club Tiefenstein 1927 . After the Second World War, the club was initially called SV Tiefenstein. During this time, the first football team also rose to the then second-rate regional league Rheinhessen / Nahe , but the 1950/51 season was to remain the only one and the club had to be on 15th and last place with 13:43 points Descend again at the end. In 1951 the club then took on its current name. At the German athletics championship in 1959 , Bernd Cullmann , who started for the TuS, finished sixth over the 100 meters with 11 seconds.

Current time

In the 2004/05 season, the first soccer team played in the 1st district class West Birkenfeld, with 50 points coming seventh. At the end of the 2005/06 season, with 69 points, the championship and thus promotion to the district league succeeded. This season should also be finished as champions with 68 points, which then went on to the district class near west. In this, however, they always played in the relegation battle and then had to relegate back to the district league after the 2008/09 season. From there it went down to the district class, from which you could climb up again as second with 68 points. For the 2013/14 season, this league became the B-Class. From here, after the 2017/18 season, they were promoted to the A-Class as champions with 82 points, but rose again with 28 points over 13th place in the following season. After the 2019/20 season, which was prematurely terminated by the COVID-19 pandemic , the club placed second with a quotient of 2.58 points, which allowed them to move up to the A-class again.
