Tuija Brax

Tuija Brax (born January 6, 1965 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish politician .

Life

Tuija Brax studied law at the University of Helsinki after finishing school ; in 1990 she achieved her master's degree in law. She became a member of the Green Bund party . In 1993 she became a member of the Helsinki City Council. In 1995 she was able to enter the Finnish Parliament as a member of the Finnish Parliament , to which she belonged and was re-elected in the following years. From 1995 to 1997 Brax was party leader of the Green Federation.

Under Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen Brax became Minister of Justice in his government cabinet and remained so under his successor Mari Kiviniemi . In July 2010, as Minister of Justice, Brax announced that she would enforce the opening of marriage for same-sex couples in Finland.

Tuija Brax is married to Antti Brax and has two children with her husband.
