Tullio Baraglia

Tullio Baraglia (born July 21, 1934 in Gera Lario ; death announced on November 24, 2017 ) was an Italian rower who won two Olympic medals.

The 1.88 m tall Tullio Baraglia rowed at the Olympic Games in 1960 on Lake Albano with Renato Bosatta , Giancarlo Crosta and Giuseppe Galante in the boat class four without a helmsman . They were defeated in the run-up to the Soviet boat and qualified for the final via the hope run . There the four from the United States won by two and a half seconds over the Italians, who in turn crossed the finish line just under a second ahead of the Soviet boat. In 1961, the Soviet and Italian foursome met again in the same line-up as in 1960 in the final of the European Championships , the Italians won the gold medal in front of the boat from the Soviet Union and the boat from the Federal Republic of Germany.

Seven years later, Bosatta and Baraglia were part of the Italian squad for the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico. Together with Pier Angelo Conti-Manzini and Abramo Albini, they lost to the Hungarians in the preliminary run and qualified for the final via the hope run. There the boat from the GDR won ahead of the Hungarians, two and a half seconds behind the Hungarians the Italians won the bronze medal.
