Renato Bosatta

Renato Bosatta (born February 11, 1938 in Pianello del Lario ) is a former Italian rower who won three Olympic medals.

The 1.80 m tall Renato Bosatta rowed at the Olympic Games in 1960 on Lake Albano together with Tullio Baraglia , Giancarlo Crosta and Giuseppe Galante in the boat class four without a helmsman . They were defeated in the run-up to the Soviet boat and qualified for the final via the hope run . There the four from the United States won by two and a half seconds over the Italians, who in turn crossed the finish line just under a second ahead of the Soviet boat. In 1961, the Soviet and Italian foursome met again in the same line-up as in 1960 in the final of the European Championships , the Italians won the gold medal in front of the boat from the Soviet Union and the boat from the Federal Republic of Germany.

At the European Championships in 1964 , Franco De Pedrina , Giuseppe Galante, Emilio Trivini and Renato Bosatta rowed with the helmsman Giovanni Spinola in a four with helmsman , the Italians achieved third place behind the boats from the Soviet Union and the Federal Republic of Germany. At the Olympic Games in 1964 , the three medal winners of the European Championships won their preliminary run. In the finals, the German boat won ahead of the Italians and the Dutch, while the Soviet European champions came in fifth behind the French.

Four years later, Bosatta and Tullio Baraglia were part of the Italian squad for the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico. Together with Pier Angelo Conti-Manzini and Abramo Albini in the four without a helmsman, they lost to the Hungarians in the preliminary run and qualified for the final via the hope run. There the boat from the GDR won ahead of the Hungarians, two and a half seconds behind the Hungarians the Italians received the bronze medal.
