Tunilla silvestris is a species of plant in the genus Tunilla from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Tunilla silvestris grows prostrate with partly subterranean, pearl-shaped shoot segments. The circular, pure green shoot segments are small and almost thornless. The occasional thorn is up to 1.7 centimeters long. Sometimes there is a second thorn.

Nothing is known about the flowers and fruits .

Distribution and systematics

Tunilla silvestris is widespread in the Bolivian department of La Paz . It was first described as Opuntia silvestris in 1932 by Curt Backeberg . In 2000 David Richard Hunt and James Iliff placed them in the genus Tunilla . The species is possibly identical to Tunilla minuscula .
