The Tradenberg Tunnel is a road tunnel .

Geographical location

The Tradenberg Tunnel crosses under the northern foothills of the Bisamberg massif between Hagenbrunn -Königsbrunn and Stetten in the Weinviertel , Lower Austria , over a length of 2.4 km . It is part of the Vienna outer ring expressway , which is designated S1 West in this area .

history

The Tradenberg tunnel was the first mined tunnel in the Weinviertel . It was set up by the Bonaventura Consortium as part of the Public Private Partnership project PPP Ostregion . Due to the geological situation, the average daily advance was 2.6 meters. The relatively small cover of a maximum of 50 meters posed an additional challenge. A total of 1.6 million cubic meters of concrete and 87,000 tons of reinforcing steel were used. The projected construction costs amounted to 82.3 million euros.

Construction began in April 2007. It was opened to traffic on Sunday, January 31, 2010.

The two tubes of the tunnel will be extended outside the Tradenberg using an open construction method for noise protection reasons and will thus reach a total length of 2,423.5 meters for the north tube and 2,457 meters for the south tube. The mined part of the two tunnels has a length of 1,403.6 meters and 1,359.0 meters respectively. The support is provided with shotcrete, tunnel lattice arches and system anchors.

Both tubes each contain two lanes and one continuous parking lane. This results in an excavation cross-section of up to 130 m² with a vault span of 14 m. Nine cross-passages (five using the mining method and four using the open construction method) connect the two tubes. The resulting control distance is approx. 250 m. The longitudinal ventilation of the two tubes takes place with jet fans. The maximum permissible speed in the tunnel is 100 km / h.
