history

From 1938 to 1954, Hagenbrunn was part of the 21st district of Floridsdorf in Vienna (“ Greater Vienna ”), but from 1945 it belonged to the Soviet occupation zone of Lower Austria .

Since 2006, Hagenbrunn has been part of Kleinregion 10 outside Vienna .

In March 2009, a gas explosion destroyed an entire house in Schlossgasse. A woman was killed and a man injured.

In the course of the construction work on Vienna's outer ring road S1 , remains of the former Dietersdorf settlement were found in the area of the Hagenbrunn junction . To commemorate this town, the street between the industrial area and the Hagenbrunn junction is named Dietersdorfer Straße .

Since Hagenbrunn is a typical Weinviertel street village , the place lacks a classic town center. In 2012, the construction of a village square as a community center began. This village square was opened in May 2017 and has been the new center of the village ever since. Around this square are the municipal office, several shops, the event hall, the elementary school, the kindergarten, several doctor's offices, the police station and two banks. Intensive discussions preceded the construction of the new village square.

coat of arms

The Hagenbrunn coat of arms shows a reclining crescent moon in the upper third. This goes back to the knight family Dachsenbeck, who ran a free court in Hagenbrunn in the Middle Ages. In the lower part of the coat of arms there is a bunch of grapes and ears of grain as an indication of the viticulture and agriculture in the community.

Population development

Hagenbrunn is an immigration community that has seen a significant increase in population despite the restrictive settlement policy.
From 1981 to 1991 the birth balance was negative, but 206 more people moved in than withdrew. Since then the birth balance has been positive, the migration balance rose to +225 in the period 1991 to 2001 and further to +373 in the decade to 2011.
