The Göllersbach flows through Sierndorf.

Sierndorf is located in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the market town covers 55.07 square kilometers. 3.03 percent of the area is forested.

The Göllersbach flows through Sierndorf, as well as through parts of Stockerau . During heavy rains it can happen that the brook increases its width by up to three meters and clearly overflows its banks. However, flood damage has never occurred.

history

An important coin find from Höbersdorf from the 17th century is kept in the Stockerau Museum. In 1717 Sierndorf received market rights .

Population development

The community has grown rapidly since the 1970s. In the last few decades this is due to a positive birth balance combined with a strong influx. From 2001 to 2011 the birth balance was +56 and the migration balance +431.

In 2001 there were 82 non-agricultural workplaces, agricultural and forestry operations according to the 1999 survey 154. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in employment at the place of residence was 1598. In 2001, the activity rate was 52.13 percent.

  • Commercial: A total of 18 commercial companies are located in the market town.
  • Industry: The lying on the edge of the village industrial district consists of a grinding mill and several small businesses. The road maintenance department of the state road administration, the companies Nievelt and Youngtimer are currently located in the 17 hectare company area. The Assmann mill , the Arnauer joinery and numerous SMEs are located in Sierndorf . The Angenbauer bakery, the Eckerl butcher and the Mahrer general store are close together in the center of the village. All companies in the large communities are listed in the "Sierndorfer Yellow Pages".

In 2011 the Sierndorf road maintenance depot , which was newly built for around 5.9 million euros, was opened. Around 50 employees in the road maintenance department look after around 220 kilometers of state roads in eight communities with a total of 38 cadastral communities . A Henschel & Sohn road roller (manufacturing number 1026, built in 1928) is set up next to the road maintenance depot's parking lot .
