Spillern is an Austrian market town with 2,428 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Korneuburg district in Lower Austria .

geography

Spillern is located in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria, east of Stockerau and 22 km northwest of Vienna . The area of ​​the market town covers 12.7 square kilometers. 46.66 percent of the area is forested. In the south, Spillern borders the Danube .

history

  • 1230 - First documentary mention under "Spilarn"
  • 1363 - The Hardegg count dynasty owns Spillern
