Tupman Island is a 3 km long island off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the group of the Pitt Islands , it lies east of Pickwick Island .
The island is first recorded on an Argentine map from 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1959 after Tracy Tupman, a character from the serial novel The Pickwickier (1836-1837) by the British writer Charles Dickens .
