history

The Turbe Mosque

In the 15th century the village was conquered by the Ottomans . In 1878, as a result of the Berlin Congress , Turbe was placed under Austro-Hungarian administration .

The place was badly destroyed in the Second World War. In the Battle of Travnik, in which the Yugoslav People's Liberation Army fought against Croatian NDH troops at the end of 1943 , a total of 3,000 people, including 1,000 civilians, died.

During the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1995, Turbe was directly on the front line for a long time and was partly badly destroyed. The reconstruction is largely complete.

traffic

Turbe had a train station on the Lašva – Donji Vakuf – Gornji Vakuf / Jajce railway since 1894 . The railway with a Bosnian gauge of 760 mm ran on individual sections with a gear drive . The narrow-gauge trains or their locomotives were affectionately called "Ćiro" in the Yugoslav vernacular. In 1975 the narrow-gauge railway was stopped and the tracks dismantled.
