Turbinicarpus bonatzii is a species of plant in the genus Turbinicarpus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Turbinicarpus bonatzii grows individually with dark green, depressed spherical to spherical bodies and has a short, thick beet root. The bodies reach a diameter of 1.5 to 2 centimeters. Their humps are conical to rhomboid. There is a single brown central spine with a length of 12 to 25 millimeters. The 1 to 2 radial spines are white with a darker tip and 3 to 5 millimeters long.
The pink flowers have lighter edges. They are up to 1 centimeter long and have a diameter of 1.2 to 1.5 centimeters. The round, greenish fruits are fleshy when ripe.
Systematics, distribution and endangerment
Turbinicarpus bonatzii is common in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí . It was first described in 1992 by Gerhart Frank . Little is known about the species. It may belong to Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus . Synonyms are Pediocactus bonatzii (Gerhart Frank) Halda and Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subsp. bonatzii (Gerhart Frank) Panar.
Turbinicarpus bonatzii is listed in Appendix I of the Washington Convention on Endangered Species . In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN it was in 2002 as " Endangered (EN) ," d. H. classified as endangered. During the 2009 update, the species was not reevaluated and removed from the red list.
