Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus is a species of plant in the genus Turbinicarpus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus grows individually with cloudy green to blue-green or gray-green, spherical to flattened spherical bodies and has a fleshy taproot . The bodies reach heights of 1 to 3 centimeters and diameters of 1.5 to 5 centimeters. Their humps are conical, elongated conical or broad and rounded. There are 1 to 10 (or more) thorns , which can also be missing. They are thick and spongy, flattened and papery, or pliable and slightly bent or twisted.
The white, cream-colored, greenish-yellow or magenta-colored flowers are 1.5 to 2.6 centimeters long and 1 to 3.2 centimeters in diameter. The round, greenish fruits become somewhat fleshy when ripe.
Systematics, distribution and endangerment
Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus is common in the Mexican states of Nuevo León , Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí . It was first described as Echinocactus schmiedickeanus in 1928 by Friedrich Bödeker . In 1937 Curt Backeberg and Franz Buxbaum put it in the genus Turbinicarpus .

Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus is listed in Appendix I of the Washington Convention on Endangered Species . In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is it as " Near Threatened (NT) , d". H. classified as low risk.
The subspecies Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subsp. andersonii , Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subsp. dickisoniae , Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subsp. flaviflorus , Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subsp. gracilis , Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subsp. schmiedickeanus and Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subsp. schwarzii were named " Critically Endangered (CR) " in 2002 . H. classified critically endangered. Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus subsp. klinkerianus was called " Near Threatened (NT) ", i. H. classified as low risk. When the Red List of Threatened Species was updated in 2009, the subspecies were not reassessed and removed from the list.
