Turbomeca Ardiden 1H / Shakti

The Turbomeca Ardiden / Shakti is a shaft turbine developed by the French manufacturer Turbomeca and the Indian manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to drive helicopters . According to a tradition at Turbomeca, the engine was named after a mountain in the Pyrenees .

history

The engine was developed from 1999, from February 2003 in cooperation with HAL and is used in the HAL Dhruv as the Ardiden 1H. The first run took place at the beginning of 2004, the first ground test followed in October 2005. The first flight of the helicopter with the Ardiden engine took place on August 16, 2007. From the end of 2007 the helicopters will be equipped with this engine as standard (previously Turbomeca TM 333-2B2 ). The approval by the EASA took place in December 2007.

Technical specifications

The engines each have two shafts and a reduction gear. The two-stage radial high-pressure compressor is driven by a single-stage high pressure turbine. The output shaft, which is designed for 6000 rpm, is driven by a two-stage low-pressure turbine. The annular combustion chamber is directed backwards to keep the length of the engine small. It is controlled by a double redundant FADEC system. The Ardiden 1A will be used on the Eurocopter EC155HP + , the Ardiden 2K on the Bell / Agusta Aerospace AB139 and the Ardiden 3G on the Kamow Ka-62 . The price quoted is $ 0.5 million each.
