The Turmbund is a society for literature and art based in Innsbruck .

The Tower Association was founded on November 17, 1951 by Tyrolean authors around Hermann Kuprian and Heinrich von Schullern .

The name Turmbund was derived from the former tower house of the Innsbruck city tower , which is used for readings and literary gatherings. Hermann Kuprian says in the preface to "hot spots" (Volume II, 1966) about the creation and naming of the tower Federal: "(...) The tower covenant his name leads to the clubhouse on the city tower of the Old Town Hall to Innsbruck, where in the Middle Ages the towers high lived above the roofs. After the Second World War, the tower became a spiritual symbol in cultural life as a sign of firmness and vigilance, preservation and vision, outlook and open-mindedness. (...) "

tasks and goals

The Turmbund aims to promote literary talents and up-and-coming talent. In order to realize its tasks and goals, the society has a literature center with an event room, library, archive and office located in Innsbruck. Cooperation with other artists at home and abroad is sought.

The organizing and publishing activities of the Tower Association consist of readings by authors, lectures, workshop readings, exhibitions, literary-musical matinees, conferences, international writers' encounters, writing seminars, cultural trips and book series. Thereby came u. a. HC Artmann , Helmut Schinagl , Gertrud Fussenegger , Barbara Frischmuth , Thomas Bernhard , Julian Schutting , Herbert Rosendorfer , Raoul Schrott and Christoph W. Bauer have their say.
