Turmion Kätilöt ( Eng . The midwives of perdition ) is a Finnish industrial band that mixes elements of techno with those of metal . The texts are in Finnish and English .
Band history
MC Raaka Pee and DJ Vastapallo knew each other from the Gothic Metal formation Ancient Drive, in which they were active as keyboard and guitarists. After this band broke up, in 2003 they decided to found Turmion Kätilöt. Although shortly afterwards they recorded three other members with Master Bates, RunQ ( Tarot , EToS ) and DQ, it is they who write the lyrics and music. At the end of 2004 Spellgoth was added as the second singer, who only sings live and is not involved in the album recordings.
Their first album Hoitovirhe ( Eng . Operating error ), which entered the Finnish album charts at number 28, was released on May 20, 2004 on Ranka Recordings, a sub-label of Spinefarm Records . They also released two singles: Teurastaja (German butcher ), which reached number 5 in the singles charts, and Verta ja lihaa (number 12, German flesh and blood ), for which the only video so far was shot. In April 2005 the EP Niuva 20 was released , the title of which comes from an insane asylum 20 km from the recording studio. It entered the Finnish charts at number 2 and contains three new songs as well as two live recordings, one of which is the Deep Purple cover Stormbringer , on which Marco Hietala (Tarot, Sinergy , Nightwish ) and Tommi Salmela (Cardiant, Tarot) also participated . On March 29, 2006 the second album Pirun nyrkki ( Eng . Devil's Fist ), named after a puzzle, was released. The album reached number 7 in the charts, the single of the same name number 2.
After some quarrels with the Spinefarm Records label, the band offered their third album, USCH! on the website of her own label, Raha Records, for free download. Eventually these disputes could be settled and Turmion Kätilöt was released from the contract with Spinefarm. The video for Minä Määrään ( I rule ) has been released for TV broadcast. And on May 13, 2009, USCH! with two new tracks also on CD and went on to number 6 in the Finnish album charts.
On October 16, 2010 the single Ihmisixsixsix was released , which precedes the new album Perstechnique , which was released on February 19, 2011 as part of the Finnish Metal Expo in Helsinki, before it went on sale internationally on February 23.
