The Turners Cross ( Irish Crois an Tornóra ) is a football stadium in the Irish city of Cork . It is the home of the Munster Football Association and the Cork City football club , which plays in the Premier Division, the League of Ireland . In 2009, after a renovation, it was the first stadium in Ireland to be fully equipped with covered seating. The second such stadium is the Aviva Stadium in Dublin , which was completed in 2010 .

On October 16, 2017, Hurricane Ophelia passed over Ireland with winds of almost 160 km / h. The roof structure of the Turners Cross was badly damaged. Parts of the roofing of the northeast corner of the North Stand Derrynane Road fell onto the rows of seats. Other parts were found in the area and in the surrounding front gardens. The game between Cork City and Derry City , which was scheduled for the day, was postponed to the evening of the next day. It was possible to open three of the four grandstands for the visitors. The game ended in a goalless draw in front of 5,857 spectators.

Today the facility offers 6,385 seats in the four tiers. For security reasons, the capacity is limited to a total of 6,900 spectators.
