history
RAF Turweston
Turweston Airfield was opened at the height of World War II as Royal Air Force Station Turweston , RAF Turweston for short , and from then on served the RAF Bomber Command as a training airfield , which was equipped with three paved runways. After hostilities ended, RAF Turweston was closed on September 23, 1945, but remained the property of the Air Ministry .
The site was initially used for civilian purposes and served the British Army as a depot in the 1950s.

In 1994 the area on the eastern part of the former RAF station was reopened as a civilian airfield. A few years earlier, new aviation use had already begun in the form of glider operations on weekends. A conference center was built in 2004.
