The Tuvalu Telecommunications Corporation (TTC) is a tuvaluisches state-owned company based in Funafuti . It is the only telecommunications company in the country. TTC is managed by Simeti Lopadi and has 47 employees (as of 2009).

The company reports to the Ministry of Communications, Transport and Fisheries . TTC was founded in 1994 based on the Tuvalu Telecommunications Corporation Act, No. 4 of 1993. This was adjusted in 2012.

A sale to the international company Digicel was rejected by the government in 2012 due to the required exclusivity. Until 2012 the company had the exclusive rights for telecommunication services.

TTC offers telephone and internet solutions for landline and mobile communications as well as satellite solutions . For the coming years (as of 2012) the TTC is planning three large projects, including an undersea cable to Fiji .

TTC offers fixed network solutions for telephony and internet. There are 1000 landline connections on Funafuti and 300 on the other islands and atolls (as of 2012).

Cellular

The mobile network of Tuvalu Telecommunications Corporation was founded in 2007 completely destroyed by a storm. In 2009, within three weeks, the company Pactel International set up a new cellular network for Funafuti. The network supports EDGE . Currently (as of 2012) mobile communications are possible on Nukulaelae and Vaitupu in addition to Funafuti . 1300 SIM cards are in circulation (as of 2012).

In June 2014 TTC signed a five-year agreement with Kacific Broadband Satellites . From 2017, high-speed internet of up to 225 Mbit / s is to be provided.

At present (as of 2013) the reception of television that was or is provided by TTC is only possible to a limited extent via sky Pacific .
