Twents folk song
The Twents folkslied (Hymn of Twente) is the hymn of the Dutch region of Twente . The text was written in 1926 by the local history researcher Jacobus Joännes van Deinse from Enschede , to whom the design of the flag and the coat of arms of the region can be traced back. The melody comes from the German student song Ergo bibamus , which van Deinse got to know in an industrial club in Enschede. A version of the anthem in the local dialect Twents was by writer Gerard Vloedbeld written.
- Then he ligt de heide in 't paarsrode kleed
- |: Dat is on the assignable Twente: |
- Daar smokes our spelled zo heerlijk door 't land
- Door bossen en velden, slowly Losserse zand
- Daar rust he ons oog van der heuvelentop
- The wijst ons de nijvere steden
- Give Kan 't zelfde as a Twente ons

German translation
- There is a country between Dinkel and Regge
- Our beautiful and hard-working Twente,
- The land of work, the land of nature
- Our always praised Twente
- There the golden grain beckons in the fields
- The mill wheel turns on the fast flowing stream
- There lies the heather in the red dress
- |: This is our so precious Twente: |
- Where Twickel lifts its towers out of the oak leaves
- Where De Lutte makes its hills shine
- The Easter fires burn all around
- And the country folk let the Advent horn sound
- Where our spelled flows so wonderfully through the country
- Through forests and meadows, along the Lossersen sand
- There the view goes from the hilltop
- |: About the wonderful landscape, our Twente: |
- The cloud of smoke, it rises on the horizon,
- Show us the busy cities
- Inhabited by hardworking and honest people
- Places of the powerful present
- Out there in the peasantry on heather and fields
- Legends and fairy tales are still being told
- There the tubanter rests in the hilly grave
- |: The past alongside the present in Twente: |
- And fate also leads us from Twente
- We will always remember her
- No other landscape, however beautiful it may be
- Can mean the same to us as Twente
- We shake hands even in a foreign country
- Remember our small but beloved country
- And may our house also be in a foreign place
- |: Our heart always stays in Twente: |
