action

Ty is a young Tasmanian tiger raised by Bilbys. One day he meets the Bunyip Elder, who tells him where all of his true relatives have gone. The evil cassowary boss Cass wanted to get five mystical talismans in order to gain control of the country. When the Tasmanian tigers tried to prevent him, he transported them into the dream world with the help of the talismans. The talismans were scattered all over the country. Ty must try to find her again to bring his family back. But Boss Cass is also looking for the talismans.

Gameplay

Ty has to collect amulet stones in the worlds, for which he has to do various jobs. He often has to rescue five trapped bilbies, win a race or collect 300 opals . He can attack opponents with his boomerangs or with bites. At the beginning of the game, Ty is only equipped with one boomerang, so he first has to get another one in the "Everything Roger" level. In addition, he can only swim if he has visited the platypus Rex in the "Rex ahoy" level .

Game flow

The outside world of the game are the so-called rainbow cliffs, from where Ty can reach all portals to the different levels. The levels can be visited in any order, but the above order is recommended for good progress. Next to each section is Julius with a machine that he can use to open a portal that leads to a talisman. Ty is then automatically sent to a boss fight. After every successful boss fight, Ty not only receives a talisman, but also a special boomerang from Julius, which helps him to get to another section. Ty gets more boomerangs from golden gears that he can find in the levels. With the fire rank he can break a wall of ice that separates him from the second section. With the ice level he can extinguish a fire that blocks his access to the third section. With the lightning rank, Ty can activate a generator that opens the great gate that separates him from Boss Cass's realm. In this world there are no longer any individual tasks; it's all about getting to the end of the level. In the fight against Boss Cass, Ty receives a Chaos Rank, which is dirigible.

Friends and helpers

  • Maurie: He's a cockatoo and makes the introduction to each level. In most of the levels he sits on a wooden sign and gives Ty important tips and advice.
  • Julius: This koala developed a machine to teleport Ty to the talismans. To do this, however, he always needs a certain number of amulet stones, which Ty can collect in the levels. He also makes special boomerangs for Ty, for which he always needs a certain number of golden gears.
  • Shazza: She's a dingo girl and in love with Ty. In most of the levels she has tasks for Ty, for each of which he receives an amulet stone. In the last level before the final battle, she rewards him with a talisman.
  • Bull: This huge boar is the first final boss in the game. After he is defeated, he is available as a mount to Ty in another level.

The game has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. It received mixed to positive reviews from the trade press. At Metacritic , the game scored between 68 and 70 out of 100 points.
