Hansa Bremen

The series of the Hansa Bremen type (also known as the Hansa class ) comprises six reefer ships that have been developed for refrigerated fruit transport but can be used universally . The ship type was built between 1989 and 1993 by the Bremer Vulkan shipyards in Bremen and the Seebeck shipyard in Bremerhaven.

history

The Hansa Stockholm

The shipping company Leonhardt & Blumberg commissioned the Bremer Vulkan shipyard in Bremen with the development and construction of the fast and versatile reefer type of the Hansa Bremen type. The name giver and type ship was Hansa Bremen , which was commissioned in March 1989 . In May of the same year, the first sister ship for the same shipping company, the Hansa Visby, followed . Both ships were chartered by the Swedish shipping company Cool Carriers when they were taken over. In December 1990 the Hamburg shipping company took over the third building, the Hansa Lübeck , followed in February 1991 by the fourth unit, the Hansa Stockholm .

With the sister ships Chiquita Bremen and Chiquita Rostock for the Belgian company Great White Fleet , the last two ships of the ship sextet from the Schichau-Seebeck shipyard followed in October 1992 and March 1993 .

Technical data and equipment

The ships are powered by a seven-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine from MAN (type 7 L 60 MC). The motor with 11,220  kW power , which acts directly on a fixed propeller, was built under license by Bremer Vulkan. The ships can thus reach a speed of 21  knots . Three diesel generators are available for the power supply . One of the generators has an apparent power of 1200  kVA , the other two have an apparent power of 1712.5 kVA each. An emergency generator with an apparent power of 250 kVA was also installed.

The ships were equipped with four cranes with a capacity of 18 tons each for cargo handling. The cranes are located between hatches 1 and 2 and 3 and 4. The ships ordered by Leonhardt & Blumberg were equipped with a different type of crane than those of the Great White Fleet. In addition to the refrigerated cargo in the rooms, containers can also be loaded on deck. The container capacity is 290  TEU for the Hansa Bremen and 306 TEU for the subsequent buildings.
