Tyrone Power, Sr.
Tyrone Power, Sr. (born May 2, 1869 in London , † December 23, 1931 in Los Angeles ) was a British-American actor.
Life
Power was born the son of concert pianist Harold Power and stage actress Ethel Lavenu. He was taught at Dulwich College. The family emigrated to the United States and in 1886 Power made his stage acting debut. He had decades of success on Broadway , including as Claudius in the highly successful Hamlet production by John Barrymore . From 1914 Power also appeared in films, initially mostly in the leading role, later often as a villain. He had his last film role in 1930 on the side of John Wayne in the western The Great Trek . Power was the father of the US actor Tyrone Power and the grandfather of the singer Romina Power and the actor Tyrone Power junior . He died of a heart attack at the age of 62.
