Romina Power
Romina Francesca Power (born October 2, 1951 in Los Angeles , California ) is an Italian - American singer and actress . She is part of the pop duo Al Bano & Romina Power , which was particularly successful in the 1980s .
Life
She is the eldest daughter of Hollywood star Tyrone Power and his second wife, actress Linda Christian . After her parents divorced in 1956, she and her sister Taryn lived with their mother. They moved often during this time, mostly staying in Italy and Spain . Romina Power attended school in England. Since she was 14, she starred in many Italian films, including the 1969 film Marquis de Sade: Justine , based on the book by Marquis de Sade . In 1966 she made her debut as a singer with the single Quando gli angeli cambiano le piume .
While filming the film Assicurasi vergine , Power met the singer Albano Carrisi , whom she married in 1970. With songs written by her partner, she won the Festivalbar competition ( Acqua di mare ) in 1969 and took part several times in Un disco per l'estate (around 1970 with Armonia ) and in the 1976 Sanremo Festival ( Non due ). In 1970 she released her first album 12 canzoni e una poesia , followed in 1974 by Ascolta, ti racconto di un amore… , the following year Con un paio di blue jeans . In 1981 Power had a hit with Il ballo del qua qua , the Italian version of the duck dance .
In the 1970s, Power and her husband began performing as a permanent duo, Al Bano & Romina Power . They represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1976 and again in 1985 . Between 1982 and 1991 the duo took part in the Sanremo Festival five times and won it in 1984 , and they were also very successful internationally. The couple finally separated in 1998, which also marked the end of the duo. Power and Carrisi have four children together: Ylenia (* 1970), Yari (* 1973), Cristèl (* 1985) and Romina (* 1987). The eldest daughter Ylenia disappeared without a trace in 1994 and was declared dead in 2014.
Apart from a few film and television appearances, Power increasingly withdrew from the public. It wasn't until 2012 that she got back with the release of the album Da lontano . In 2013 she revived the duo with Al Bano and in October 2013 the two performed together in Moscow . From 2014 the duo went on tour together again, with guest appearances at the Sanremo Festival in 2015 and 2020 . In the same year the new joint album was released.
