Tzanata ( Greek Τζανάτα ( n. Pl. ), Also Dzanata ) is a place in the municipality of Argostoli on the Greek island of Kefalonia . The place has 159 inhabitants (as of 2011).

In 1991 the remains of a monumental Tholos grave from Mycenaean times were discovered during excavations under the direction of the archaeologist Lazaros Kolonas , which were excavated and analyzed in the excavation campaigns 1992-1994. The lower diameter of the grave was 6.80 meters, a lateral dromos led to the burial chamber. The Tholos was built on the site of an earlier grave dating from around 1350 BC. Chr. Collapsed. Construction materials from the previous building were reused. The burials took place in stone box graves . In the center of the Tholos was a richly decorated tomb of a local ruler. Although grave goods were stolen in ancient times, the objects still in existence meant that they could be used from the 14th to the 11th centuries BC. Prove. The archaeological research of the Tholos, as well as a nearby rectangular building in which the bones of at least 72 buried people were discovered, brought some significant finds to light, such as painted ceramics, terracotta figures, a gold necklace, pearls, engraved seal stones, a miniature Gold double ax and a pair of gold bull horns from a rhyton .
