Istanbul Metro
There are several subway systems in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul :
- an underground funicular between Karaköy and Tünel Square, which opened in 1875; → Tünel
- an underground funicular between Kabataş and Taksim Square, which opened in 2006; → Fünik student Kabataş – Taksim
- a metro system that has been greatly expanded since 2012 and currently includes lines M1 A , M1 B , M2 and M3 (European side) and M4 (Asian side); → Istanbul Metro
- a light rail system best known as the Hafif Metro; → T4
There is also a transcontinental S-Bahn system ( Marmaray ) and several tram lines connected by the Bosporus Tunnel .
