Cabo Ruivo is a metro station on the Linha Vermelha of the Lisbon Metro , the subway network of the Portuguese capital . The station is located under Avenida de Pádua in the Lisbon municipality of Olivais . The neighboring stations are Olivais and Oriente ; the station went into operation on July 18, 1998.

history

Like six other train stations, Cabo Ruivo is part of Linha Vermelha , which opened in 1998 and was built on the occasion of the 1998 Expo taking place in what is now Parque das Nações . While the line itself started its operation three days before the opening of the world exhibition (on May 19, 1998), Cabo Ruivo station only went into operation on July 18 of the same year due to subsidence.

The conception of the station was carried out by a college of architects led by Duarte Nuno Simões , Nuno Simões , João D. Santa Rita and João P. Santa Rita . They designed a relatively sober station with the usual two 105 meter long side platforms. Entrances are located at both the western and eastern ends of the platform, with the three lifts also located to the east. The artistic design was done by David de Almeida , who has always dealt with pre-historic motifs since the beginning of his artistic career. For this station, too, he designed various motifs in the style of cave paintings, which can be seen in white on black back track walls. However, the platform walls themselves are a sober blue.
