Nicholas Adam Dinsmore (born December 17, 1975 in Jeffersonville , Indiana ) is an American wrestler and mainly known for his involvement with the WWE .

Career

Nick Dinsmore made his first major appearances in World Championship Wrestling , where he only played four matches. Much of the early days of his career he spent in what is now the WWE development league Ohio Valley Wrestling , whose owner Danny Davis was instrumental in Dinsmore's training.

Ohio Valley Wrestling

In OVW Dinsmore formed long along with Rob Conway , the Tag Team Lords of the Ring . In March 1998 they won a tournament for the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship, the first title holder of which he had been with Flash Flanagan the previous year . The team became very successful and was able to secure the title ten times by June 2002. At that time, Dinsmore signed a development contract with the WWE, whereupon he was specifically built for the main rustler of the league. However, he stayed with OVW for a few months and won the OVW Heavyweight Championship eight times.

World Wrestling Entertainment

From July 2003, Dinsmore appeared occasionally in dark matches at WWE shows, but was still active at OVW at the same time. He had his first PPV appearance at Vengeance in 2003 when he took part in a "Bar Room Brawl" as "Doink the Clown". He also competed under this gimmick on SmackDown! a match against Chris Benoit , which he lost.

It wasn't until March 2004 that Dinsmore became a permanent part of the main grate. He made his debut at RAW as Eugene ; a character with Down syndrome who may have had good wrestling skills due to Savant syndrome . Eugene, who, according to the storyline, is the nephew of the then General Manager Eric Bischoff , used mostly unspectacular moves, such as those used in B. were used in the 1970s, as well as signature moves of current wrestlers. He had his first significant feud against his "favorite wrestler" Triple H , who first played a friendship to Eugene and later brutally attacked him together with his stable evolution . Eugene retaliated by intervening a few weeks later in a match between Triple H and Chris Benoit and ensuring the successful title defense of the then World Heavyweight Champion Benoit.

From October 2004 Eugene teamed with William Regal and won with him the World Tag Team Championship from Sylvain Grenier and Rob Conway. In a match against Christian and Tyson Tomko at New Year's Revolution , Eugene sustained a serious knee injury and was sidelined for several months. He made a brief appearance at WrestleMania 21 and was attacked by Muhammad Hassan and Khosrow Daivari until Hulk Hogan rushed to his rescue.

In July 2005, Eugene returned and began a feud against Kurt Angle , whose Olympic gold medal he won in one match. At SummerSlam he was defeated by Angle and had to give up the medal again. He later played a few matches against his former partner Rob Conway and got the support of former WWE wrestlers such as "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan , Kamala and "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka . Together with Snuka, he defeated Conway and Tyson Tomko on November 1st on Taboo Tuesday .

On November 18, 2005, it was reported on wwe.com that Nick Dinsmore had passed out in a hotel lobby during his European tour and was immediately taken to hospital. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that Dinsmore was regularly taking prescription drugs such as Carisoprodol (trade name: Soma) and was suspended until a withdrawal was successfully completed.

After returning to the Royal Rumble in 2006 , Eugene was mainly used on the Sunday Night HEAT B-show . In the summer he allied himself with "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and was initially accompanied by him to the ring; later they competed regularly as a tag team. During a brief feud against the Spirit Squad , Eric Bischoff, who was again general manager during one edition of RAW , set a match between the two against Squad members Kenny and Johnny . The rules of the match said that the losing team had to split up. With the intervention of the rest of the Spirit Squad, Eugene and Duggan lost the fight, whereupon Eugene freaked out for reasons not further elucidated and attacked his partner. It was through this action that Eugene became a heel for the first time .

Independent area

On September 1, 2007, Dinsmore was fired from the WWE as part of his wellness policy after having been shown to have taken long-term pain relievers without medical necessity. Since February 2008 he has been active again with Ohio Valley Wrestling, which is no longer part of the WWE.

In addition, Dinsmore is currently playing in numerous smaller wrestling leagues. He usually embodies the Eugene gimmick already used in the WWE.

In August 2009, Eugene was reinstated in the WWE by defeating Ricky Ortiz in a match. But at the same time he was released because he was physically out of shape.
